In March of 2012 we remodeled our kitchen from floor to ceiling after months of planning and ordering cabinets and materials mostly from Lowe's. We also ordered new triple pane windows throughout the house.
New triple pane windows with internal blinds
Removed counter between refridgerator and built-in oven.
Removing vent and cabinet over electric range.
Cabinet over range removed. We'll deal with exhaust later.
Built in oven and cabinet removed
Cabints removed over range and microwave shelf.
Next major task is to remove base cabinets, sink, and softits.
Soffit and plaster walls removed on east wall. Door to kitchen sealed from dust. Note lack of studs on south wall. There used to be a sliding pocket door here. Additional studs will be added.
Soffit and plaster removed on south and west walls. Range vent duct exposed.
Plaster removed on north wall.
The entrance to the dining room also had a pocket door that was removed.
Not a good shot but partially hidden is the control for a heated floor..
Most of the wiring is done with lots of GFI outlets.
Installed recessed lighting throughout..
Provided drop down lighting for kitchen table.
Finished installing insulation to outside walls.

Working on West wall.

Chiseling out thermostat for heated floor and beginning to layout the heating grid.

Our new cabinety was delivered before starting demolition.
Checking our our design for a backsplash.
We decided to go with the backsplash design of stainless steel and glass mosaic.
This will be the corner base cabinet for a new sink.
It's critical to a good kitchen to have a wine rack. The cutout below the wine rack is for a range vent.
Next we install our new Whirlpool GoldStar microwave.
Then we complement the wine rack with side cabinetry.
Finally finishing these off with crown molding.
Installing a corner cabinet.
Corner cabinet installed.
Then I installed a side cabinet. All cabinets are fastened to wall studs with 1/4-20, 2.5 inch lag bolts.
Then a light valance is installed. Filler panels will close the gap. We installed a shallow cabinet above the valance for extra, infrequently used storage.
Finally we began installing the base cabinetry.
And backsplash. Çounters have not been delivered yet but we used a sample for spacing.
I thought it was interesting that the range has a "Sabbath Mode."
New dishwasher is installed and narrow utility cabinet.
My biggest desire in this design was for a large pantry.
Here is the finished installation of the pantry and a side cabinet
The new refridgerator is put in place.
Finally a cabinet is mounted above the Fridge with a filler panel connecting the light valance..
Everything is now topped off with crown molding.
Butterfly sink with granite counter.
